Ordering Parts

When ordering parts for talkers, please specify which type(s) of toys you need parts for. The talker kits call for four different sizes of belts:
1. Full-sized Mattel talkers (Chatty Cathy, Mrs. Beasley, etc.)
2. Talking Barbie (Julia, Steffie, Ken, etc.)
3. Talking Buffy (Small Talk family, etc.)
4. Matt Mason
All the belts are $1.00 each.

(I do have a stock of various-sized belts for battery-operated talkers and oddball toys. Please mail the original belt or an exact-size photocopy so I can match it.)

Pullstring for Mattel and Ideal talkers is available. I normally send 6 feet (enough for three dolls) for $1.00; longer lengths are available.

My unbreakable white plastic replacement pull rings are also $1.00 each. They're a slightly different size than the originals.

I'm currently stocking three types of talker pullstring ferrules, for:
1. Full-sized toys (Chatty Cathy, Mrs. Beasley, etc.) ($1.00 each)
2. Talking Barbie and Buffy ($1.00 each)
3. Matt Mason backpack ($1.00 for set of two)

Parts for Suzy Smart and other battery-operated mechanical talkers:
1. Silicone drive tubing ($1.00 for two sizes)
2. Custom drive belts (mail photocopy of original for size match)

Replacement steel needles for full-size Mattel talkers, Suzy Smart, and some Ozen talkboxes: $1.00 each

Currently, all the above parts are $1.00 each. The exceptions to that rule are below:

  • I've located a limited supply of original old stock, flesh-colored Chatty Cathy pull rings. They're slightly faded, but at least they're the right size. Original Chatty Cathy rings are $2.00 each.
  • Plastic-compatible grease is available for $3.00 for a small tube.
  • Liquid vinyl (for the eye repair kit) is available for $3.00 for a one-ounce bottle.
  • "Flattened" new, old-stock #223 light bulbs for 1950s and 1960s battery-ops (car headlights, animal and people eyes) and flashlights from the 1920s through 1960s are available for $3.00 each.
  • I have mint condition, tested, old-stock alnico toy motors, made in Japan. I have two sizes: the rarely used #10 size (1¼" wide across the magnets, motor shaft 1¾" long) and the more common #20 (1 3/8" wide, 1 3/4" long shaft). They're $5.00 each. Neither motor is the Suzy Smart size.
  • Plastic pinion gears (for the battery-op kit) are back in stock and available for $3.00 a set. I'm afraid they're only available in sets of three, one of each size, which is the only way I can obtain them.

  • Steel retaining rings (for the battery-op kit) are $.50 for a set of two. Please specify small or large size.
  • Mulberry paper (for rebuilding smoker and squeaker bellows) is $.50 for a small sheet--enough for several bellows.

Please send a stamped, self-addressed envelope with payment to:
        Ben Truwe
        607 South Holly Street
        Medford, OR 97501

You can pay by PayPal, of course; add an extra dollar for packing and shipping and send payment to: truwe@mind.net

If ordering bulky or fragile parts by mail (light bulbs, motors, grease, liquid vinyl) please add two dollars, for postage and a bubble envelope.
