Forty years have passed since the repression of the ancient tradition
of Buddhism in Tibet. There are now very few people remaining who are qualified
to teach us the authentic methods used in Tibetan sacred art and ritual.
At Tashi Choling we have a rare opportunity
to study these disciplines in an appropriate environment.
Since all human beings are alike in their desire for happiness and
freedom from suffering, the preservation and practice of Tibetan Buddhism,
its arts and sciences can be genuinely beneficial not only for Tibetans,
but for humanity as a whole. Change is inevitable for all indigenous cultures;
however, by establishing an educational support for Buddhism
in the West, we can create a cultural bridge to the East, thus ensuring
the continuity of the sacred traditions of Tibet.
