Here we see an animation that shows the relation between these two quantities:

The object always starts at the same position, 0.0 m. It moves away from that starting position with a constant velocity. Each of the object's velocities is constant. The velocity changes in value from +6.0 m/s to -6.0 m/s. The constant acceleration is always 0.0 m/s2. So, none of the velocities change as time passes.

This Java applet demonstration is set up for xo = 0.0 m and vo = 6.0 m/s. You can change this starting velocity to other values, (keeping the acceleration at 0.0 m/s2), to see situations similar to those shown in this animation.
