Guess Word, Download Pictures
As you read this the Guess word game is
downloading the pictures that are needed for playing. When
the nine boxes below are all filled with pictures, then click
the above 'Back' button to return to the game. More notes
below the pictures...
You are playing Guess Word on a network,
the Internet, so it takes just a bit of time to download
pictures. It is probably best to download them all at once.
This will place the images in you Internet cache on your hard
drive. Nothing special is happening here; most content that
you see on the Internet is temporarily stored in your
Internet cache. After being placed in the cache for the first
time, the pictures can be rapidly retrieved as needed.
When all the above boxes are filled, the
pictures have been downloaded into your cache.
As your cache fills up, the oldest of
content will be removed as new content comes in. Therefore,
it may be necessary in the future to again return to this
page and download all the pictures again if game play slows
down at first because they have been removed.
Of course, if you just go ahead and play
the game without doing any of this, the pictures will
eventually all download into your cache the first times you
play. That will only make the first game or two a bit slow.
